Deadpool

With the Marvel franchise to its name and a great amount of hype from audiences worldwide, there were high expectations, but I honestly think that Deadpool will be one of the biggest movies of 2016. Not taking it’s self seriously, the humour is infectious, the violence is intense and the story is fresh – It’s perfect.

Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who is told he has terminal cancer. Wade is offered a “way out”, by being the subject of an experimental procedure to have increased strength and accelerated healing powers. He takes on the name Deadpool and goes out to find the person who carried out this experiment on him, the classic British bad guy, Ajax (Ed Skrein), to fix the good looks he ruined.

Deadpool takes every opportunity possible to make fun of the Marvel franchise, especially Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men team. With the overall aim of killing the bad guy and winning the girl, Deadpool faces many challenges and faces each one with great finesse, a brilliant sense of humour and tight spandex. There is not a single negative comment I can make about this movie.

Breaking the fourth wall throughout and at one point the sixteenth wall, this movie is hilariously entertaining and freakishly additive – let’s face it, I will have to see this movie at least one more time while it’s in cinemas. Tim Miller directed this movie beautifully, the camera work is spot on the visual effects put the cherry on top of this fabulous dessert.

Rating:  5 Star Rating
