In Audience With Barry Norman - Event Review

'And why not?' - Barry Norman, Britain's most famous film critic appeared at the Braintree Arts Theatre and shared with the audience some of his favourite films as well as answering questions from his extensive journalism career with Hollywood stars.

Our host for the evening made his entrance on stage introduced by the familiar theme song of 'Film', a theme that Barry Norman was sure that he has heard before. He then quickly engaged us talking about his favourite films, meetings with stars and various insights into behind-the-scenes Hollywood.

He admitted that he does not have one favourite film, but rather very many - some of which include; Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, The Adventures Of Robin Hood and Dirty Harry. He shared his experiences of the films, the background of them, the casting and why they are still timeless classics.

In the second half of the presentation he went onto answer various questions given by the audience - in which he answered thoroughly some which include who the most and least interesting stars he has interviewed in which he recalled being asked to leave by John Wayne, nearly getting into a fight with Robert De Niro, and a height competition with Mel Gibson - but also having marvellous encounters with others including George Clooney and Sean Connery.

The evening offered and insight into the film buffs mind and he thanked audiences for coming and even signed the copies of his book which was available.
